I have never watched the show, though I've seen clips here and there (I feel like such a misfit for admitting that - so unAmerican!). On Wednesday, April 25, Bono will be on "American Idol." He won't be competing, singing or even judging; he will be pitching the ONE Campaign. Get the report straight from the source at the ONE blog and ONE.org. Apparently "Idol" is focusing on extreme poverty in Africa and will feature a presentation by Bono and a ONE campaign spot.
I might actually have to record the show since I'll be at worship practice that night. Now when am I going to watch "Mythbusters?"
Of course, I don't watch more than an hour or two of tv every week, but I've never seen Idol either! Maybe the counter cultural thing runs through our blood. Or maybe it was being raised Mennonite Brethren. I don't know, but I don't feel like I'm missing out on life by not having seen Idol, do you?
I'm glad Bono gets another platform to pitch the ONE Campaign. I hope it bears fruit.
